Sailor Dress Series is Done!!!

Here are 3 of the girls modeling some of the dresses.  Sadly, it was too windy this weekend to get a good group shot of everyone together.  We took the shots at the Emeryville marina at that perfect time right before sunset when the light is at its most golden.  Though we were a bit rushed due to the wind.

Here is Bridgette's doll modeling our completed first outfit.  She fell over right away, and the top of her head popped off.  Oh, no!  But all is well.  This is the dress that Marilyn was wearing in the last post while I was cutting out the other dresses. 

And here is the dress that we are donating to the raffle with a few other goodies.  It has a silver collar with vintage rayon soutache braid and silver trim on the skirt.  And on Friday, we went to the Japan Cultural Center to pick up a few last minute items to include in our package.

This is the red dress that Marilyn had reservation about.  It has turned out to be one of our favorites.  The collar turned up in the breeze, but it actually lays down nicely.  As do they all-- that was one aspect of this pattern that pleased me.  I really don't like it when the little collars stand up, which is hard because they are so tiny they usually do.

And I am rather especially fond of this baby blue stars version.  I think that it goes so well with her eyes...

And this one is a little unusual, because the print on the skirt is of surf crashing into rocks.  Nice shades of blue.  And I used the vintage rayon soutache on the collar.  To go with the crashing waves on the skirt, I used a lighthouse as the hat accent. 

And I used little sail boats and anchors print for the skirt on these along with the vintage soutache.  In the background of these shots is the original Trader Vic's, where the Mai Tai was invented.  Just a bit of trivia.
